The Lion King

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Tonight, I turned on The Lion King because I thought Lily would love to see all of the animals and listen to the songs.  I figured I would just fast-forward through the scary parts of the movie and no harm would be done…

Well, remember this scene?

Moments before this scene, baby Simba is resting in the arms of his mother… Then, that crazy old monkey takes the baby from his mama and raises him up to show the whole pride…. Bad idea Monkey, bad idea.  Lily lost it.  As soon as Rafiki (crazy monkey) took Simba from his lion-mom, a flood was released from Lily’s eyes.

“Baby!!!! BABY!!!!!!!!” She cried and cried.  We tried to show her that the baby was ok, but no use.

“BABYYYYYYY!!! BAAAAAABY!”  She kept crying.  Tears everywhere.

It has been 20 minutes, she is now watching Elmo and is still sniffling.  She let’s out the occasional “baby” *sniff* “baby”

I am sure she will talk about this for days.  It was traumatic.

Wimpy da Tid

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Lily’s favorite movie is “Wimpy da Tid” (Diary of a Wimpy Kid). She loves it. She can watch it over and over again (not that we let her, of course). But before bed? It is her favorite. Odd… I would’ve thought a cartoon would be more popular, but no. She loves Wimpy da Tid (we had to buy it, of course). Also, she cannot really say her C’s and K’s… they all come out as T’s. “Annie Dute” instead of saying Annie Duke (our cat’s nickname), Wimpy Tid, Titty Tat….

**Update:  Yesterday, I was a neglectful mom and let my daughter watch Wimpy da Tid twice.  TWICE.  She watch attentively the whole time.

Lily Update

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

We have been bad about blogging lately.  I, Stacey, was the main blogger… now that I am at work, the blogging doesn’t happen as much (hint, hint, Andy).  The blog is a great way for me to keep track of Lily’s milestones, and I don’t want to lose that.  So, here is a list of updates about things she does / likes, etc…  Stop reading if this will bore you.

  • She says “one time one time” and holds up one finger when she wants to stay at the park just for a little while longer.
  • She sings the “I love you” Barney song all by herself.
  • She can count to 20
  • Her alphabet is coming along, singing-wise
  • STILL in love with Elmo:  “Watch ElmOOO? Watch ELMO??”  every night before bed (or before nap time)
  • Loves to jump up on the bed and then kick her feet out from under her, landing on her butt
  • “Mama moooooove” when she wants to just play with Dada or Nana.
  • She likes to narrate everything that is happening:  “Mama push cart, no Lily sit in cart, Lily walk self.”
  • If she can’t watch Elmo, she wants to watch “Singing Show” (GLEE) — her excuse not to go to bed.  It usually works.
  • Got a new Strider bike for her birthday!
  • Loves to play pretend:  pretend cook, pretend eating, dolls, etc… We just ordered her a play kitchen — it will come in soon!
  • Likes to change the words to songs to turn them into funny songs…
  • Lily, how old are you?  “Two years old”
  • Calls this house “Lily’s Bend House”
  • Getting better with her colors (red, brown, orange, pink)
  • Has been doing some potty training for a while… She goes on the toilet whenever we prompt her, and she frequently asks to use the toilet before bed (another stalling technique, but she still goes)
  • Lily loves to HANG on things… Hang from monkey bars, hang on swings…. She is getting brave and testing her arm strength
  • She started doing this new high pitched scream when she doesn’t get her way… awesome
  • Lily is so independent: “Lily self, Lily self”  She loves to do her own thing, her own way.

Back at Borders

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Wednesday Night, 8:24pm: Dropped off Lily at Grandma and Grandpa’s for an hour break.  Andy and I came down to Borders to play on our computers.  Oh, how I miss the days of sitting at Borders, pregnant with Lily, wondering all about her…  Oh yeah — and how I miss watching that couple I used to stalk *you know, that couple having the affair???  Whatever happened to them?  Aren’t you curious?

Cereal that is not name brand is disgusting. (Right before I plow into a bowl of “Nutty Nuggets.”)
