29 days until…

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Lily’s due date.  Not that that means anything, but still counting down.  I was up last night at 1:30am to use the bathroom (I get up every 2 hours on the dot to do this) and the only thought going through my mind was “I hope I don’t go into labor now because I am really tired!”

Back at Borders today waiting for Dad to come hang out.  I will probably get in 2 more posts on the blog today – lots to read/write today!  Hopefully our usually crowd to people watch with come in (really just the couple having the supposed “affair.”)

Graco Travel Passage System with Snugride

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

That is what our car seat / stroller system is officially called!

Yesterday, Dad and I went to pick up our “Travel System” which we had ordered to be delivered to the nearest Wal-Mart.  So far, I am very happy with it!  Thanks to Dad’s help and a manual written by someone who was not a native English speaker, we figured out how to install the car seat into the car, attach the car seat to the stroller, etc…

Nice flower print, but not too girly.  Thanks Nana Lorna and Grandpa Terry for purchasing this for us!

After figuring out how to install it, I had to uninstall everything to go vacuum/clean the car.

Today the fire department was holding their monthly “car seat safety check.”  Good timing!  I re-installed the car seat and took it in to get inspected for safety.  The inspector checking the car said, “This is the best home installation I have ever seen!”  Apparently I know how to safely hook up my car seat!  Hooray!

Monday Morning

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Back at Borders and waiting for Dad to show up so that we may continue our reading, chats, and weekly spy business.

Andy and I packed the labor bag last night!  It is sitting by our front door, ready to go.  31 days until her due date.  I wanted to have everything ready by now because it is becoming increasingly harder for me to do things on my own – bending over is no fun, I get very tired of standing, etc… And, I know that this will only get worse in the weeks to come.  Glad to have *almost* everything done and out of the way!

My mom came over yesterday and spent 2 hours helping me clean the kitchen!  Thanks Mom!

People often ask me about cravings, etc… Here are some things I have noticed during pregnancy:

1.  I now like ranch dressing (never did much before.)

2.  Bacon always sounds good.

3.  I tend to eat spicier foods.

4.  My skin is greasier and prone to break-outs.

5.  My tolerance for things that normally bother me has actually gone up!

6.  Surprisingly, it does not bother me when anybody (even strangers) touch my belly.

7.  Times passes more slowly… Probably all of this “waiting.”

8.  I only need about 5 hours of sleep to feel well-rested.

9.  I spend a lot more time cleaning.  Everyone says its nesting… I think it is boredom taking over since I have nothing else to do.

10.  Getting comfortable is a thing of the past.

Almost ready…

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

We are almost completely ready for the arrival of Baby Lily (materialistically that is, I don’t know if you could ever be really ready.)  I have been anxiously awaiting the stroller/carseat combo that we ordered that is scheduled to come in this week.  Once we have that, I can install the carseat (take it to the police station to get it checked for safety) and then we will have everything prepared.  Only 33 days left (4 weeks and 5 days – that sounds sooner to me than saying 33 days.)

I feel like I want her to come soon – partially because I spend most of my days waiting and waiting.  I haven’t started any new projects or taken on too many students for tutoring, so time moves slowly for me.  Good thing Dad and I have Borders!

Andy’s mom is here this weekend.  She found an apartment yesterday at Witham Hill Oaks, hurray!  She will be moving up in a week or so and continue her job search if she hasn’t found one by that point.  Everything is coming together.

3D Baby

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Here is a 3D ultrasound picture taken of Baby Lily.  It was taken on July 29.

Also, I had another check-up yesterday (8/25).  I have check-ups every two weeks now.  The doctor says that everything looks good.  Baby’s heart beat is stable and healthy!  I am approximately 32.5 weeks along and all seems on track.

Grandma Wanda

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

The morning of the baby shower, my mom told me the following story:

When she and my dad were in Taiwan (earlier this year, in February), she kept having dreams about a baby.  After a few nights of dreaming of a new baby, she told my dad that they just had to go buy something for the new baby – she didn’t know whose new baby or what, but she just kept having dreams and knew that she needed to bring something home from Taiwan for the new baby — a gift that she purchased herself.

Well, what do you know… Mom brought home a beautiful robe/wrap for the new baby in her dreams.  Little did she know that the new baby would be her first granddaughter, Lily Lin Vaughn.

Baby Shower

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Shauna (and Mom) threw me a baby shower this last Saturday.  It was great to see everyone, even though it was very warm!  We played “guess what baby food” and “guess what melty-chocolatey-candy is in the diaper”.  Here are lots of photos!

Baby's Room

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Shauna and I have been painting the baby’s room (ok, mostly Shauna… I just try to stay inside the lines). It is not all the way finished, but here are some photos of what we have done:

Her room is still pretty messy — we are organizing all of the generous gifts that were given to Lily at the baby shower.
