Apparently we are having some problem with our old photos/videos on this blog… You cannot access any of the old pictures (in case you were trying to)… We will hopefully have this fixed soon.

Comedies

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

All of our favorite comedies seem to overlap.  Actors appear in old / new comedies that we love.  Here are some connections we’ve seen:

Actor/Show Arrested Development 30 Rock The Office Community Parks & Recreation Flight of the Conchords
Ed Helms James (guy Lindsey hits on) Andy Bernard
Rashida Jones Karen Filippelli Ann Perkins
Aziz Ansari Tom Haverford Sinjay
Will Arnett
George Oscar Bluth II (GOB) Devon Banks Guest Appearance Coming
Yvette Nicole Brown Staples Employee Shirley
Ken Jeong Bill (guest star) Senor Ben Chang
Jack McBrayer
Country Club Waiter Kenneth Ellen Parcell
Craig Robinson
Studio Guard Darryl Philbin

Also note:

  • Danny Pudi (who plays Abed Nadir in Community) made several guest appearances as Raj in Gilmore Girls.
  • Melora Hardin (who plays Jan Levinson in The Office) made an appearance as Carolyn Bates in Gilmore Girls.

Who am I missing?

Nothing new here…

I haven’t blog posted in a while because I haven’t had anything interesting to say!  There have been a few nights when I have thought “I should write a blog post.”  But then, my mind goes blank and I realize I have nothing to say.

Andy has been off/on sick for the past week.  Luckily, Lily and I have remained fairly healthy.

I definitely need to take new pictures of Lily to post (and new video)…

The latest on Lily:

Lily can walk.  She can take as many steps as she wants… She just hasn’t decided that it is her main mode of transportation yet.  She can say “hot”, “cat”, “Dada”, “light”, “that”, and “Mama” (when she wants to).  She is very talkative and is always chatting to someone or herself.  She even knows a little sign language, as well as a few of her own made up signs.

Lily loves books.  She loves to read.  I can read the same book over and over and over to her and she is very content (or discontent when I decide it is break time).  She also likes to pick up books on her own and read to herself.  She talks and laughs while she reads.

Lily has a great throwing arm and is very proud of herself when she makes a good throw.  She loves to play catch :)

She has such a great personality and loves being around others.  She is just a lot of fun.

Tonight was TOO MUCH TV Thursday:  Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office, 30 Rock, and the Project Runway Finale (which I haven’t watched yet, but I have recorded).  I don’t think I would watch all of these shows if it weren’t for the fact they are all on in a row (and I am sure the people in charge know that too).

I sure said a lot for being someone without much to say.

GIRL!  Lily’s cousin, due April 1, 2010, is going to be a little girl!  Congrats Aunt Shauna & Uncle Colin who are going to become Mom & Dad.

Not too much else to say.  Just excited about the new baby.

Top Chef

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Top Chef is one of my favorite TV shows.  It is on Bravo and is a competition between chefs to win the title of “Top Chef” (along with money, magazine spreads, cool prizes, etc)…  We are currently on season 6 of Top Chef….  Thre is a dominant competitor thus far.  But first, I want to give you a breakdown of the past seasons.

Top Chef Background:  Every episode involves 2 challenges:

  • Quickfire Challenge:  Usually a fast, 30 minute challenge or so, with a twist or a restriction on ingredients.  The winner of this usually gets immunity from elimation for the night.
  • Elimination Challenge:  The winner usually gets a great prize and the loser gets kicked off the show.

Here are some stats from previous seasons:

Season 1 “Top Chef”:  Harold

  • 2 Quickfire Wins
  • 2 Elimination Challenge wins (including the finale, which won him the title)

Season 2 “Top Chef”: Ilan

  • 1 Quickfire Win
  • 3 Elimination Challenge wins

Season 3 “Top Chef”: Hung

  • 4 Quickfire Wins
  • 2 Elimination Challenge wins

Season 4 “Top Chef”: Stephanie

  • 2 Quickfire Wins
  • 5 Elimination Challenge wins

Season 5 “Top Chef”: Hosea

  • 1 Quickfire Win
  • 3 Elimination Challenge wins

Now, before I get to our current season (which is not over), let me say… In season 5, there was a dominate leader, Stefan.  Stefan finished the competition with 4 quickfire wins and 4 elimination wins… He just didn’t win the finale… Stefan was the most dominant competitor we had ever seen…. Until…….

Season 6 Leader after 10 Episodes:  KEVIN

  • 4 Quickfire Wins
  • 4 Elimination Challenge wins

There are still many episodes left and Kevin has already racked up this many wins?!?!

I love this show.
