“There is one woman and three big dogs in that car.  The woman is in the passenger seat.  I don’t get it.”

Mom vs. Dad

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Here are some things about Lily and the parent she inherited it from:

  • Super-long eyelashes (Dad)
  • Wants to constantly touch everything (Mom)
  • Cries when hungry (Dad)
  • Cries when tired (Dad)
  • Tries to stay up as long as physically possible (Mom)
  • Cries when she doesn’t get her way (Mom)
  • Wants to have three points of contact with you while sleeping (Mom)
  • Chatty when tired (Dad)

My Monster

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Lily is my monster baby… Because, she is big enough to eat any other baby her age (and even older).  She also turns into a monster at night when the lights go down and when daddy falls asleep.

And…. Playing internet poker with Grandpa!

Ay yi yi yi yi!

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Lily’s new favorite thing to say: “Ay yi yi yi yi yi yi!”

She has been talking so much that last two days.  She is saying “ba ba ba ba ba” and “ay yi yi yi yi”.  She has also started “screaming” and trying to communicate her anger when she is hungry or unhappy.

She just fell asleep next to me without me having to nurse her!  Amazing.  Lily, Andy and I are all in one bed.  We love sleeping together but know that soon we will move Lily into her crib.  Last weekend, Andy caved in and let me buy a video monitor.  I will feel much more comfortable about living Lily in her room when I can at least check-up on her without having to walk over to her room everytime I worry.

Andy and I had planned to take Lily swimming for the first time tonight.  I was really excited!  Unfortunately, she was too tired.  We fed her and Andy held her while she slept.  We ate Local Boyz and watched 24!

Here are some photos I took a few minutes ago (using the camera on my computer):

Here are some pictures of Lily (taken today):

Now, here are some random photos from my dad’s camera.  Some of these pictures are from Thanksgiving at my parent’s house…  Others are from the winter snow…  Enjoy!

Okay, okay…

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

It has been requested by many people that I update this darn thing… Okay, okay!  Sorry, no photos today – we will get new photos up soon.

So, let me think… What is new?

  • My brother-in-law, Colin, will not be going to Iraq (for his third tour).  Due to his medical school/career pursuits, the army granted his exemption and discharged him.  Yay for Colin!  No more war!
  • We had a garage sale today with our friends – we made $80 and cleaned the house/garage a little.  I totally cleaned out my closet in this process, which made it well worth it.
  • Isabella, Andy and I are going to see Wicked (the musical) in Portland tomorrow.  I have seen it once before – it is awesome.
  • We are planning a big family trip to Las Vegas this June.  Even with Lily!  This will be so fun.  We have friends in Vegas who have a little baby who must be a year and a half old by now… We have never met her, so it will be fun to get she and Lily together.
  • Lily’s 6th month appointment (and shots :( ) are coming up.  We started feeding her some rice cereal mixture a few days ago.  She seems to like food a lot, but the cereal doesn’t flow as quickly as the milk so she gets impatient.  I cannot wait to feed her other foods, which we will do after her check-up.  It is going to be messy!
  • Lily LOVES the cat – grabbing her, reaching for her, pulling any part of her… I must say – Annie has been fairly tolerant.
  • Andy won a poker tournament last weekend.  He won a seat into a bigger tournament that will take place in May.  Thanks for babysitting Grandma Wanda so we could go play poker!
  • Lily still cannot roll front-to-back, but she is the master of back-to-front rolling.  She is anxious to crawl, which means I need to start baby-proofing a little more.

I think that is all from our neck of the woods for now.  I will post some pictures soon!

The Monster Sleeps…

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

She sleeps!  This means I get to clean, blog, and facebook.  I was going to write a long post, but then decided I was hungry.  Here are some pictures of Lily with her Grandpa Terry who came to visit a few weekends ago:

Sometimes it goes sideways for no reason!!! AH!

“Maybe she doesn’t like my skin.”

5 Months!

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Happy 5 months little Lily!  She rolls over almost every time you put her down.  She is the best baby…  We are so lucky to be her parents!

Here are some pictures taken a week ago courtesey of my friend Carla – Thanks Carla!

FRIDAY!

Let’s see where I left off last post:

My cold is getting much better and Lily’s snuffy nose is going away.  But, unfortunately we have passed it on to my mom…  Sorry Mom!

Andy got the stomach flu version and had to miss Tuesday and Wednesday of work.  Poor guy!  He got hit hard and unexpectedly.  Each day he is feeling better than the day before, and went back to work on Thursday.

Andy is also teaching a class today down at Madison Avenue Collective (a freelance collective for web-workers / graphic designers).  He is really excited!  Although I don’t know much about what he is teaching, I will take Lily down to watch.

Lily is still rolling over all the time – she cannot roll front to back yet.  She will roll back to front, play around a little, kick her legs, grab at things, and then get frustrated that she cannot get back.

Two days ago, Lily said “mama”.  It was very distinct – Andy heard it too!  This was the first time she had ever made that particular sound.  Whenever I feed her, I say “mamamamamama” to her.  When she said “mama” the other day, she also started smacking her lips – which is something she does when she is hungry.  Maybe, just maybe, she has some sort of connection between that sound and hunger!?

That is all from our end.  Thank goodness for the weekend.
