Tada!

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Tonight, Lily rolled over for the first time ever. She only rolled over one direction and it was back to front.  So exciting!  Although, this means I can no longer leave her on any elevated surface unattended.  She got really close to rolling the other direction (back to front) but didn’t make it.  She seems to have no interest in rolling front to back.

Earlier tonight Lorna came over to teach us how to make homemade pesto.  It was delicious!  We made the best pizza ever: pesto as a base, chicken on half, feta cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.  Yummy!

Two new foods I learned to make this week:  pesto and ginger beef.

Easy to Spot

Hi Friends,

My new license plates arrived.  Thanks Daddy for getting these for me!  Now you will be able to see my mommy driving me down the street to Borders, American Dream Pizza, Timberhill Athletic Club, and all of my other favorite joints in town!

Love,

Lily

Big Girl!

Lily is non-stop growing.  We are definitely running low on clothing!  She is so cute, and the world’s happiest baby.

OH NO!  I have to sneeze!

135 Days of Perfection

Sometimes it won't all fit…

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Yesterday I learned why you always, always carry spare baby clothes in the diaper bag… and thank god I did.  Let’s just say that Lily had an overflowing diaper while at Borders (5 minutes before tutoring)!!!  Well, I did have extra clothes and was able to wash her off the best I could in the sink there.  Yikes…

Andy is working on an exciting new project that he will hopefully share with you all soon.

Last week, I had a goal to work out every day, Monday-Friday and I did it!  Yay!  That was awesome.  My new goal is to work out every weekday.  Weekends get a little trickier because we have so many family things we want to do… So, those days are optional.

Lily is getting so big!  She is trying to sit up by herself and can do pretty well with help.  She doesn’t seem to have much interest in rolling over yet.  We are running out of clothing!!!  We have lots of summertime clothing, but things are still cold so I will need to go buy her some new outfits.  She is now in the 6 months + clothing size… Wow, what a big girl.

She has just fallen asleep.  I used the time to make tortillas and am now relaxing a little and watching Meet the Robinsons.

Here is one of Andy’s favorite pictures.  We have posted it before in color, but here it is in black and white:

3 Day Weekend!

Monday, February 16th, 2009

To celebrate Valentine’s Day and Andy’s three day weekend, we actually built up the courage to go one night without our sweet baby girl.  We left Lily at my mom’s house for a sleepover on Sunday night.  What did we do?

We came home and made dinner together (chicken pesto panini sandwiches, yum yum)!  Then, we went to get gelato for dessert.  As we spent all evening talking about how much we missed our daugter, we decided to go visit her at my parent’s house after diner and dessert.  We hung out for a bit up there and then came home to go to bed early.  I actually did get some decent sleep (better than I have had in 5 months or so).  However, it ws not as good as I had hoped.  Apparently, waking up to feed Lily in the evening is not only for her sake.  Going all night without feeding left me sore and “full” of milk… That is VERY painful!  Hard as a rock.  I was so tired that I didn’t get of bed and waited until 7am before I couldn’t take it any more and finally had to get up and pump out some milk.  It was a more restful night than usual, but not perfect.  Oh well.  We tried :)   Thanks for the help mom!

Andy and I missed her so much!  It was hard to be away from her for one night!

I was going to write more, but the baby is now fussy.  Good bye.

Gamble Gamble!

Some poker players are known for their gambling… Not necessarily for gambling at poker, but for the crazy side bets that they make with other players!

Here are a few side bets made by poker pro Ted Forrest:

  1. Had to run a marathon in under six hours on the outdoor heat-radiating, rubber-urethane track at UNLV, at temperatures almost 120 degrees.  Won $7,000, but suffered serious heat exhaustion.
  2. Bet that Howard Lederer, starting at 310 lbs., wouldn’t weigh less than Huck Seed, initially at 180 lbs., in less than a year.  Won $50,000.
  3. Had to bench press 225 lbs. fifty times in 24 hours.  Lost $10,000 and permanently injured his right arm.
  4. Laid 6 to 1 that Mark Weisman, 43 years old, 5’5” tall, and 230 lbs., couldn’t run a mile in under six minutes, with 18 months to train.  Lost $60,00.
  5. Bet that Huck Seed’s brother Lief couldn’t run the 280 miles from L.A. to Las Vegas, only sleeping twice.   Won $10,000 because Lief hurt his Achilles’ tendon after 70 miles.

Plethora of Pictures

Photos from all different occasions!  Some are blurry… We are not photographers.  Enjoy!

From the night of the OSU Federal Winter Gala.  Most of the family pictures came out too blurry :(

Sleepy Angel

Annie Baby!  As Andy says: “She’s friendly!”

The puzzle that took forever… so long that Andy got fed up and finished it!

The very cute bear outfit that Auntie Shauna and Uncle Colin got for Lily.  It takes two people to get her in and out of it!  (Don’t know why some pictures are loading sideways….)

New Stats…

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

When we went to the doctor today for Lily’s 4-month check-up and shots, I guessed that she weighed 16.5 pounds…

Her new stats:

Weight: 16 pounds, 7.5 ounces (96th-percentile)

Length:  26.75 inches (99th-percentile)

Head circumference:  cannot remember the number, but 93rd-percentile

She is growing and growing!  Next check-up is at 6 months.  Doctor Wong said she is looking great!  The shots went ok too… The only problem was that she fell asleep before the nurse came in.  She was VERY grumpy from being awakened and even more grumpy from getting 3 pokes.  Once the shots were over I was able to comfort her and put her back to sleep.  She has always been groggy after getting shots…  The good news is that I got a lot of work done today while baby slept (and is still sleeping!)

I also slept almost a 5-hour stretch last night, which was fantastic.  Hopefully we can get baby into her own bed soon.  I know we just need to bite the bullet and do it, but it is easier said than done!  How can you not give-in to a baby cry???

New funny YouTube video:  search for “David after dentist”.  Ha!  That is a funny one.

My writing, punctutation, spelling and grammar has turned sour from being out of school too long.  My apologies.

Last night, I went to our friend’s – the Peterschmidts – house to learn how to make bread.  Brooke (and Aaron) taught me how to make an “Almost No-Knead Bread”.  Then, after they did ALL the work, they gave me a loaf to take home!  Yummy.  It was (and still is) great.  Also, Renee is expecting her baby soon…  She may be scheduling a C-Section for next week.  We are ready to welcome the next Peterschmidt into the world!  They don’t have a name solidified yet it seems… My advice?  Let Evan (the 5 year old) pick out the first name that comes to mind!  No one liked my idea.

That’s it for now!
