It is time…

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I have decided that it is time to share with you all some of Lily’s photos from when she was first born:  smooshed face, smashed nose, warped head, and all.  Lily has come a long way!  Be warned: these are not the most beautiful photos…  These are very personal photos and Lily may not be happy later in life that we shared these with the world, however, they are part of her journey into this world!

Thank you Santa!

We had a wonderful first Christmas with Lily.  She is getting so big!  Everyone was so generous – giving gifts to her and to us…

I got a one-hour massage, as well as a gift certificate to a spa, a family picture frame, and much more!

Andy scored big this Christmas!  He got an xbox360 with the game Fable II, new work clothes, the Top Chef Cookbook, a tool box with tools…

Lily had more presents to open then she knew what to do with!  Music CDs, clothes, books, toys, money for her savings account, more presents from Taiwan…

We feel so lucky.  We must have been “nice” this year because Santa was very good to us.

How is that baby doing, you ask?  She has just started smacking her lips together.  She does this all the time, not only when she is hungry (which is also all the time).  We will post more pictures soon!

74 Days!

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Here are the randoms of the week:

So, our little Pai Pai (her most common nickname from Andy and I) is 72 days old.  Wow!  Time flies.

She is beautiful.  Being a mom is everything I had hoped for and more!  I also am so fortunate to have a supportive husband and a supportive family to help me raise her.

Lily’s first Christmas is coming.  For the first time ever, I am pretty sure that I will be done with Christmas shopping before Christmas Eve.  Usually my dad and I spend hours on Christmas Eve shopping like crazy.  I am very excited for Christmas this year.  I love giving gifts.  Unfortunately, money is a little bit tighter this year due to a new baby and a new car (on only one income) – however, we are managing!

Would you like to sponsor me on my weight loss program?  Andy is my first sponsor.  I have set a daily goal (that will lead me to lose 25 pounds by April 8 – Lily’s 6 month birthday).  He is responsible for asking me every night “Have you met your goal today?”  If the answer is yes, he owes me a dollar.  This dollar gets put away into Lily’s savings account.  If the answer is no, Lily gets nothing.  However, I am keeping the particular goal private because it is something that I need to work on personally.  So, if you would like to help:  always feel free to ask me if I have met my goal that day.  If I can say yes, you owe Lily a dollar for her account!

My spelling has turned sour.  The further I get out of school, the worse it gets.  I used to be a wonderful speller, but not anymore.

I used the gift certificate that Lorna gave me for my birthday to get a manicure and pedicure last week.  How relaxing!  Shauna babysat Lily at Borders and I enjoyed an hour and a half to myself.

I wish Andy got more than 1 day off for Christmas!  Darn.

I very much miss playing poker.

Andy and I are starting Chess Club up again at Hoover after the holidays.  We are going to have it every other Tuesday until the end of the school year.  The kids are very excited to get back at it.

Firsts

Monday, December 15th, 2008
  • Lily’s first snow day and my first day of buying stock!  What an adventure.
  • I will take some more pictures of our little Lily to post soon!  I promise.  I love her so much and I absolutely love being a mother.
  • Our Honda Pilot handled the snow/ice great today!  Normally I drive the Pilot during the day and Andy takes the Acura, but today, Andy took the Pilot to work – much safer for him.
  • Christmas is coming soon!  Not only do people ask me what I want (which I need to figure out), but I also need to figure out what others want.
  • We opened a savings account for Lily to deposit money that is given to her.
  • She is getting so big!  Her next official measuring with be Jan 2 when I have to take her to get all of her shots.
  • Anyone read Twilight?  Should I?  Did I already ask this?
  • My favorite book is Life of Pi – I absolutely recommend it.
  • Andy works so hard (and long) for our family.  He gets home from work and then has to entertain me and Pai Pai (Lily).  What a good husband and daddy.
  • Lily and I are still sleeping on the floor mattress *sigh*.  We will get her in her own bed when the timing is right for everyone.
  • I wish I had warmer clothes (more sweatshirts, jackets, etc…) because it is COLD!
  • I love COSTCO – I could go there every day.
  • I just purchased the Garden State soundtrack from iTunes.  I do not remember the movie so well, but I really enjoy the soundtrack.
  • I wish Andy got more vacation days…
  • If you read this blog and you have a blog, let me know because I, too, am a blog stalker.
  • Kids + Ice = Happy + No School
  • Adults + Ice = Miserable + Still Work

Getting ready:

Erik, Andy & Garth

FAMILY

FRIENDS

Ask and you shall receive…

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

We picked up a South Dakota hit!  11 more states to go.

Sorry for the lack of posts.  I sometime don’t know what to write about or, better yet, don’t know what my readers want to read about.  Mostly my posts are just rambles.  I also try to get Andy to post – he is too busy with many other things!

Well, Lily slepts in her bassinet last night from midnight-3am.  Time to feed at 3am.  My options: feed her and then put her back in the bassinet or lay with her on the floor mattress and feed her while I dozed.  Option two was fantastic.  So, Lily and I slept the remaining of the night on the floor mattress.

Poor girl – she has a runny/stuffy nose.

Today was a fun day:

Andy’s 2 friends from college came down today to have lunch and hang out for the afternoon.  We took them to Block 15 (one of our new favorite places) and then to Gelato.  It was a hit.  They definitely want to come back for more food and bike rides with Andy!

Also tonight:  Andy invited his co-workers over and a few more friends.  We had a good night of pizza, lots of random foods/desserts and games.  Andy was a very good host!  He is learning how to be Chinese – don’t offer food and drinks, just provide.

I also took Lily over to the Pumper Family Christmas Party for a half an hour.  Great fun, as always.

Don’t know what else to write about.  It is 1:15am – goodnight!

First Attempt

Friday, December 12th, 2008

10:02pm:  Andy has put Lily to sleep in her bassinet that is next to the bed.  As some of you loyal readers may remember, we said we would start doing this on her two-month birthday.  Well, that was Monday, however, we decided that it was best to try on a weekend night in case no one sleeps!  Hopefully she will sleep well next to us and that I will only have to wake once in the middle of the night to feed (wishful thinking).  It is true that she sleeps better away from me than she does with me.  She can smell me and sense me and I think it disturbs both of our slumbers!

I will keep you posted on how this plays out…

2 Months +

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Lily is now 2 months + 1 day… Can you believe it?  Being a mom (Lily’s mom) is the most rewarding job I have ever had!

Thanks Louisiana for visiting our website!  12 states to go.

And, I guess I know your bad habit already.  That’s right, I am talking to you. Around 25 people visit this blog every day and only Andy responded!  Your bad habit must be not answering a question that someone asks you.  To think I shared my floss problem for nothing!  Hmph.
