iTouch?

12:52am

I am writing this post from my iTouch, mainly to see if it is possible. I have not been able to fall asleep yet and Lily will be up in an hour or so to eat. Thank goodness for Home Improvement reruns!

She is becoming much more alert and active. I love spending each day with her.

Shauna comes home in about two weeks and I am very excited to have her meet Lily.

My iTouch has been wonderful for nights. I can play games, surf the web, or browse facebook while Lily feeds. Couldn’t be better.

Time to try to sleep. Pictures and more posts hopefully coming tomorrow.

Happy Birthdays!

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Today is Grandma Wanda’s and Grandma Lorna’s birthday!  Their first birthday as grandmas.  We had a nice family dinner at Big River tonight (with some great dessert of course)!  It was nice to celebrate all together.

Lily’s 1 month birthday is this Saturday – a big Chinese tradition is to celebrate this day.  There are many different ideas about how mom and baby should spend baby’s first month.  Some Chinese cultures say that mom and baby have to stay home one month and not go into public or that mom and baby need to stay in bed for the first month.  Some traditions even want mom and baby in bed for one month and that mom cannot shower or bathe for the first month!  I cannot imagine laying in bed for 30 days with no shower after birth – yikes.

Baby is sleeping in 3 hour shifts through the night (still sleeping on the mattress on the floor with Mommy).  Andy is sleeping in the room with us and is even getting decent sleep.

I am up for 45 minutes – 90 minutes with each feeding throughout the night.  My choices are to watch TV or play on my iTouch (Simon Says or Blackjack).  I do watch a lot of TV!  I watch Family Matters, Fresh Prince, and The George Lopez Show (a family sitcom that I had never seen before, but am getting into).  I am trying to train baby to not want to feed at 5am… Why?  Because there are only 2 shows on at 5am:  Roseanne or Lilo and Stitch…  Roseanne???  Did anyone ever watch or like that show?

Thanks to the Medina family (Luis particularly), we have started watching the show Numb3rs on the weekends with their family.  Although each plot is interesting and I enjoy “solving each case”, the dialogue leaves much to be desired!  As a side, Luis is an amazing artist…  He drew a picture of Shauna and Colin a few years ago for me as a gift:  http://www.exchangenet.net/cor/pencildrawings.html

Incredible huh?

So cute!

Her she is about to pull her own hair so hard that she screams (she does this at least once a day):

With Mommy:

Daddy loves Lily!

Sweet Baby!

The Cycle

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Feed, change, put down for a nap… And the cycle starts all over.  It seems as though once the cycle is complete, it immediately starts all over again!  I hardly get a chance to eat, use the restroom, get dressed, shower, etc!  But, it is fun in its own way.  Being a mom makes it all worth it.

Lily and I have spent some afternoons at Borders with Grandpa.  Everyone oohs and aahs over her and they all say the same thing: “Look at all of that hair!”

Nights have been improving too.  She is sleeping longer and fussing less.

We took her to the doctor on Monday for a weigh-in:  9 pounds, 11 ounces!  Great progress, she is growing and growing – all she does is eat!

My mom has also babysat Lily a few times.  I have been tutoring 2-4 hours on the weekends.  When Andy is available, he spends time with her, but during the times he has to work, Lily goes to Grandma’s.  It gives us both a little quiet time :)

Andy and I need to take some more pictures of Lily as well as some family pictures.  Once we do, we will post them ASAP!

Oh, and most importantly:  Congratulations President Obama! (because I am sure he reads this blog)
