Definitely, Maybe. Not.

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Last month, Andy and I decided to get Netflix. We have really enjoyed it and found that it is worth the money! We can now rent all of those movies that we would never dream of paying $4 for. And, we love that we can keep the movies for however long it takes us to watch them.

Well, last night we watched Definitely, Maybe: A plot-less movie with a lame story – at least that is what we got out of it :) Oh well, at least we can send it back today and get a new movie in 2 days! Netflix is also great because you can spend (waste) lots of time browsing their movies and adding movies to your queue.

New TV seasons are starting up. I was trying to think today of all of the shows that Andy and I follow. Granted, we cannot always watch them “live” on TV. Often we have to wait until the weekend to watch them for free on the internet – what a great feature ABC and NBC offer. Here are the shows that we follow:

The Office, 30 Rock, Desperate Housewives, Top Chef, Lost, 24, and Flight of the Conchords (which we have to Netflix because we do not get HBO.)

-I am glad these shows don’t all start at the same time of the year – or else that would be way too much TV (it probably already is!) Also, I am VERY picky about our shows. We CANNOT watch any episodes out of order. If we miss one, we have to wait until we can watch it before moving on – even if this means waiting for the season to come out on DVD so we can catch up! Andy tolerates this, I suppose :)

We also enjoy, and try to catch when we can: Project Runway, any poker shows, any cooking shows…

I (Stacey) has also started watching miscellaneous shows during the day if I am home doing chores. The TV is usually on in the background – and it is usually on Bravo TV. It is a shame that Bravo is not a standard channel in Oregon – it was when we lived in Vegas, that is how we got hooked on it. I am enjoying: Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, The Rachel Zoe Project, Top Design, Real Housewives, you name it! I love Bravo! I don’t watch these shows religiously like our “must sees”…. They are just on in the background usually.  There are also other shows (on VH1, Bravo, etc..) that Andy and I would never admit to watching :) – the type of shows that leave you in disbelief about the people that are out there!

Wow! This is a whole post about TV shows! This makes us seem very unproductive – or at least me, for blogging about TV shows!

Change Up

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Monday morning and after dropping Andy off at work, I came down to New Morning Bakery… A little change of scenery from Borders. I need to go to the bank today, and New Morning is closer, so I brought my computer down to see if they too had free internet… They do! Either that, or I am stealing someone else’s wireless signal.

For those of you that love fun and additive computer games: Crayon Physics. I think yo can only download a trial version, but it is very VERY fun! Google it and get it for sure.

This was a useless, uninformative post. I will probably post more equally useless rambles later. :)

All Moved In

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Andy and Dad drove down to Medford yesterday to pack up Lorna’s belongings. They left the house at 7am. They packed the truck and U-Haul trailer with EVERYTHING and were home by 5:30pm (it is a 3.5 hour drive each way!!!) With the help of Mom, Colin, and Lam, the truck and trailer were unloaded into Lorna’s apartment within an hour or so. Fast work!

Lorna is now completely moved to Corvallis. The next step: job interviews this week. Good luck!

Lily will now have two grandmas that live close to her. Andy and I feel very fortunate to raise Lily around family and friends in a safe community.

Annie and Random Happenings

Friday, September 19th, 2008

We have a fenced backyard and when we are home and downstairs, we let Annie go outside to play/hunt.  She is our little jungle kitty.  She LOVES to be outside.  She normally just plays in the grass, catches little snakes, and watches the birds.  Last night, she was outside for a little while… As we had to leave the house, we went out to get her and bring her back in – she was no where to be found!  She had somehow escaped through the fence.  She gave us quite a scare.  After 20 minutes of looking for her, Andy found her.  She looks so innocent, doesn’t she:

Since Andy drove to work today, I am at home with no car.  These means laundry, dishes, and Davis Cup (Tennis on TV.)  Hopefully I can get some work done!

Andy and my dad are driving to Medford tomorrow with the truck to load up all of Lorna’s stuff (Andy’s Mom.)  She will be all moved in up in Corvallis by the end of the weekend.  They are making the Medford/moving trip in one day!  I was planning on going, but seeing as how I am now under 4 weeks away from my due date, we decided it would be best for me to stay home.

The Fall Festival is coming up at the end of September.  This is by far my favorite “function” that takes place in Corvallis.  I have been looking forward to this for months!

My next check-up is on Tuesday.  I will be meeting the 4th and final doctor in my group.  Now I at least have meet all four doctors (women), one of which will deliver Lily – depending who is on call the day/night I go into labor.  I have been seeing my doctor every other week, but after Tuesday I will start going in for weekly check-ups.  We are getting close!!!

New seasons of The Office and Desperate Housewives start this coming week.  These much awaited events are also marked on my calendar.  Lost doesn’t start up again until 2009.

As you can see by the amount of randomness that I am posting, I am trying to delay getting to work.  And, I am also watching a great Davis Cup Match: Nadal vs. Querrey (Esp vs. US.)

Las Vegas Photos

I came across these photos in our other camera.  They were taken in March, 2006 when Andy and I lived in Las Vegas:

Thanks Andy!

Andy has been the best husband and friend while I have been pregnant.  He is working full-time (at a job he seems to be enjoying) and he has been disciplined about waking up early in the morning to get his workout complete.  This has allowed me to take some time off of work, prepare for the baby, spend time at Borders, and take care of the house  (I am also tutoring 10-14 hours a week.)  He goes up and down the stairs for me when I need something, he gets me water and pillows when I am uncomfortable, and he has been all-around supportive.  Even after working a 9-hour day, he will go with me to Borders in the evening while I have to work!

I normally take Andy to work in the morning, but I was so tired yesterday that Andy drove himself this morning so that I could sleep in.  Which I did!

I try to support him by keeping the house (relatively) in good shape – doing dishes, laundry, etc… Making meals…  My main task is to make sure he has a good, nutritious lunch every day to take to work.  As my dad says:  “If you make a man good sandwiches, he will love you forever.”

Thanks Andy for all that you do!  I love you!

Last Race Before Baby

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Andy has wanted to get in a few more races before Baby Lily shows up (and before the weather gets bad.)  He decided to do a Cyclocross race located in Eugene (at Camp Harlow) last night.  The race started at 6:45.  I promptly picked Andy up from work at 5:00.  We got home, got the car packed up (food, bike, gear, etc) and hit the road.  Due to some shotty directions, we arrived at the race location at 6:38pm!  Andy ran up to get registered and had no more than 2 minutes to warm up.

Cyclocross is a combination bike race / obstacle course.  The race was on a 1.25 mile loop and lasted 45 minutes.  Complete the most laps in 45 minutes and you win!  I watched the guys go round and round: up steep hills (that 60% of racers had to run up), jumping with their bikes over logs, running with their bikes through sand traps, riding through technical turns and switchbacks.  Most people have fancy “cyclocross bikes.”  Andy just used his mountain bike, which seemed to work fine but might have put him at slight disadvantage, who knows.

It got dark very quickly!  My camera was also running out of batteries. I had to quickly turn it on when I saw Andy coming, snap a picture, and turn it back off.  Some pictures are blurry (due to almost no available light!)  Pictures below:

Here is Andy navigating a turn:

Andy just rode up the steepest part (which you cannot see.)  As I said, most riders had to run up this part because it was too steep for them to handle… Not Andy!

Andy just finished hurdling over a log and was about to enter the sand trap:

And, the finish:

Waste of money?

Mom would say it was!

I had $35 left on my gift certificate to Nike.  What else should I spend it on than something for the Baby???  I also had free-shipping!  So, I figured there was no way I wuold ever pay (out-of-pocket) for anything like this, but I could justify spending my gift card on it:

Little shoes that come with a cute bib!  I got the shoes in a large enough size so she can grow into them…

And, I also got myself a new shirt.

29 days until…

Lily’s due date.  Not that that means anything, but still counting down.  I was up last night at 1:30am to use the bathroom (I get up every 2 hours on the dot to do this) and the only thought going through my mind was “I hope I don’t go into labor now because I am really tired!”

Back at Borders today waiting for Dad to come hang out.  I will probably get in 2 more posts on the blog today – lots to read/write today!  Hopefully our usually crowd to people watch with come in (really just the couple having the supposed “affair.”)

Graco Travel Passage System with Snugride

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

That is what our car seat / stroller system is officially called!

Yesterday, Dad and I went to pick up our “Travel System” which we had ordered to be delivered to the nearest Wal-Mart.  So far, I am very happy with it!  Thanks to Dad’s help and a manual written by someone who was not a native English speaker, we figured out how to install the car seat into the car, attach the car seat to the stroller, etc…

Nice flower print, but not too girly.  Thanks Nana Lorna and Grandpa Terry for purchasing this for us!

After figuring out how to install it, I had to uninstall everything to go vacuum/clean the car.

Today the fire department was holding their monthly “car seat safety check.”  Good timing!  I re-installed the car seat and took it in to get inspected for safety.  The inspector checking the car said, “This is the best home installation I have ever seen!”  Apparently I know how to safely hook up my car seat!  Hooray!
